Elsie and Frank Bluebird: The Miracle of Home

Posted by Arlette Revells
One bright morning a bluebird couple not only acquired human names, Elsie and Frank, but they demonstrated the principle of caring for one another. Frank arrived first and planted his feet on top of the bluebird house on the railing of our deck. Then Elsie followed. It appeared that Frank saw the house first. They both sat on top as if surveying the surroundings. Frank must have told Elsie, “Go ahead, take a look inside. See what you think about this place.”

Elsie first jumped down to the railing in front and then lifted herself to look inside. She liked what she saw for soon they busily gathered the material they needed to build their nest inside. They set about to turn the house into a home.

Do you live in a house or a home? A house is generally referred to as a structure, a building occupied by a person or family. A home means a place where you feel respected and secure; a cheerful place; a place where you feel you belong; a place where you feel loved.

Elsie and Frank completed their nest and the little bluebird house became their home! They filled their nest with eggs. The eggs were filled with life. Mother Theresa said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other (Romans 12:10 NLT).
