Is there anything we can learn from Sage and Rulan’s story? One of our seven granddaughters, Elysiana, submitted this story about their family members with fur: “A red sable-colored German Shepherd puppy came bounding towards my parents as they talked with some people who were trying to sell her. I was little, so she looked big to me then, and I was afraid. The owner told Mom and Dad that the puppy’s name was Rose and instructed them on how to take care of her. Mom and Dad were VERY interested. We were happy when she came to live with us. The first night that we had her, Mom and Dad instantly changed her name to Sage. They didn’t think “Rose” suited her.” Elysiana continued, “When Sage was one year old, her distant brother Rulan, a young puppy at the time, arrived. Sage didn’t like the thought of it at first. I think she was jealous. Rulan was scared to death. We were concerned. Thankfully, she and Rulan got used to each other the older they got. They have a strong relationship with each other now and dutifully protect our family day and night.” Healthy relationships result from what Psalm 139 says, that God knit us together in our mother’s womb and that God’s workmanship is marvelous. This Psalm also tells us that God’s thoughts about us cannot be numbered. I know that if God cares that much for me, then I look at other people as God-created beings, and that translates into respect for others. We need each other. Relationships are worth working out! Mother Theresa once said: “Go out into the world today and love the people you meet.” How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me! Psalm 139:17 Arlette Revells Photo Credit: Christopher Revells |
