I grabbed my camera when I saw the beautiful dove land in the middle of the bird seedbox. I named her Clara Dove. The eating comfort zone for doves, typically, is to search for food on the ground, but Clara’s day got much better when she spread her wings and lifted herself to the seedbox hanging on the pole above her. There, Clara discovered the land of her dreams, the land of abundance! It had been just outside her comfort zone all along. Is it possible to become trapped in the shell of our comfort zones? Alfred Tennyson wrote, “The shell must break before the bird can fly.” What are traps that keep us from flying? One author stated that too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears. If I allow fear to be my life guide rather than the Holy Spirit, I become nestled in a comfort zone that limits and robs me of the life I could have. TD Jakes made the statement “Others can inspire you, but ultimately the only thing that empowers you is what lies within you and learning how to better utilize what you’ve been given.” How do we better utilize what we’ve been given, and from where does it come? First, I must believe there is untapped potential within me that the Creator placed there Himself before I was born. It has been said that when you step out of your comfort zone, you are stepping into your greatness. Our greatness takes wing when we realize that God created us for Himself and gives us the opportunity to be involved in what He has going on. He places within us His greatness and our souls are discontent until we step from our comfort zone into the greatness of a personal relationship with Him! Christ said that the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. But He came that we may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows] John 10:10 (AMP). Have I limited myself by being afraid to trust God for the abundant life just on the other side of my comfort zone? Written by Arlette Revells Photo credit: Arlette Revells |
