When I was a little girl, I loved to visit my grandparents on their farm. On one such visit, Mamaa and PaPaa gave me a beautiful red hen. She got to go home with us, and I named her Topnotch.
Before long, I noticed that Topnotch often went under our house and stayed for long periods of time. I soon discovered her secret. She had a nest full of eggs. I often crawled under the house to inspect her eggs and listen for signs of life. Topnotch didn’t seem to mind.
At just the right time, the beaks of her baby chickens began to protrude through the holes they had made in the shells. The chicks finally pushed themselves out. Their lives quickly changed as they escaped from their world of darkness and confinement, into a world of light and freedom!
Is it possible for us to have a life of light and freedom?
Jeremiah says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God’s plans for us are not wrapped in a world of darkness and confinement. He calls us to walk in the light and to enjoy the freedom of His Kingdom!
